1.) AFCAT – Air Force Common Admission Test:

AFCAT

AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test) Exam is a national level defence exam is held twice a year for different vacancies of officers in the Indian Air Force such as Officers in Ground Duty -Non-Technical Post, Flying Officers, and Officers in Ground Duty – Technical Post.

AFCAT Highlights: 

Exam Name: Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT).

Conducting Body:  Indian Air Force

Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of India.

Age limit:  20 to 26 years of age for Ground Duty / for Flying Branch should be between 20 to 24 years of age

Mode of Exam: Online

Mode of Counseling: online or offline

Exam Duration: 2 Hours 27 Minutes

2.) NDA – National Defence Academy:

NDA

Interested candidate who wants to join defence after 12 are required to take the NDA (National Defence Academy) exam. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the NDA exam twice a year, in the month of April and September. Candidates who clear their NDA exam get admission to the Navy, Army, and Air Force. NDA Highlights:

Exam Name: National Defence Academy

Conducting Body:  Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)

Nationality:

  • A Citizen of India
  • A subject of Nepal
  • A subject of Bhutan

Age limit: 16.5 to 19.5 years

Gender: Males only

Height: For Army, Navy – 157 cm (minimum)

For Air Force – 162.5 cm (minimum)

 3.) CDS – Combined Defence Services

CDS

Combined Defence Services (CDS) is a national level defence exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) twice a year in the months of February and in September to recruit officers for the Indian Army. CDS exam is conducted for the candidate who wants to pursue their profession as commissioned officers in, Air Force, Navy and Army after graduation.

CDS Highlights:

Exam Name: Combined Defence Services Examination

Conducting Body:  Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)

Nationality:

  • an Indian citizen,
  • a subject to Bhutan or Nepal
  • a Tibetan refugee (before January 1962),

Age limit:  20 to 24 years.

Mode of Exam: Offline

Mode of Counseling: Offline

Exam Duration: 6 Hours

4.) CAPF – Central Armed Police Force:

Police

Central  Armed Police Force Exam conducted by the union public services commission ( UPSC) every year at all India level. Under the seven security forces of India, the authorities complete the defence recruitment process for different officers of Group A and Group B.
