Vitamin C, also called ascorbic acid, is an essential nutrient that maintains the body’s functioning. Found in food and diet supplements. it helps in many biological functions, including collagen synthesis, healing of injuries, and repair and maintenance of cartilage, bones, and teeth. Vitamin C is also an antioxidant, which means it can neutralize free radicals that damage cells on a genetic scale.

Though vitamin C is regarded as an “immune booster,” there is little evidence that taking it. Vitamin C is found in many fruits and vegetables, especially citrus fruits, and can actually prevent or treat infections.

There is one condition that vitamin C can definitely treat, and that is a vitamin C deficiency. In the US, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that 7.1% of the population suffers from vitamin C deficiency. People with severe vitamin C deficiencies can develop scurvy, which causes bruising, bleeding gums, weakness, fatigue, and rashes.

Vitamin C may prevent several diseases beyond deficiency, including colds, bronchitis, cancer, chronic pain, osteoarthritis, asthma, cataracts, glaucoma, gastritis, heart disease, high blood pressure, and Parkinson’s disease.

Some Benefits of Vitamin C:

1). Metabolism of fat:

Fatty tissue around or inside the abdominal cavity is called stomach fat or abdominal fat. Vitamin C plays an important role in fat metabolism. You can maintain a healthy weight by taking vitamin C, as it helps boost your metabolism.

2). Common Cold:

Colds and flu are less severe when vitamin C is consumed. In addition to reducing nausea from a cold, it also helps with inflammation and runny noses. Besides controlling allergies that cause colds, it also reduces the duration of colds. There is no doubt that Vitamin C boosts your immunity.

3). Stress:

Thanks to the rushed world we live in, stress is one of the most common conditions. A lot of the symptoms of physical and emotional stress can be alleviated with vitamin C. Vitamin C also reduces the level of stress hormones.

4). Collagen Production:

The body naturally produces collagen. However, as people age, collagen production decreases. Vitamin C is essential for the production of collagen, which reduces wrinkles and aging symptoms.

5). Better Skin:

Elastin, a compound that thickens, protects, and heals skin cells, is formed in your body when you have enough Vitamin C. Healthy skin is a result of a healthy supply of elastin. Get a glowing complexion by consuming foods rich in vitamin C.

6). Hypertension:

You may benefit from vitamin C-rich foods if you are dealing with high blood pressure. Vitamin C intake can reduce the risk of abnormally high blood pressure.
